100% Pinoy (2006)

100% Pinoy

Are You 100% Pinoy?

Often in the landscape of Philippine television, appreciation for the Culture and the Arts takes a back seat to what is “masa”. Ironically, what is “masa” or what is popular to the masses is also culture in itself - Pop Culture that is.

Majority of today's television viewers could not even relate to the word “culture”, more so appreciate it. This, in spite of the acknowledged significance of Cultural Awareness and History in nation building, and the recognized power of visual, performance and popular art-appreciation in guiding us to rediscover our identity as Filipinos.

Clearly, there is a great need for a program that deals primarily on the Culture and the Arts, and in so doing empowers it. Enter GMA News and Public Affairs' 100% Pinoy - the newest addition in the public affairs late-night block, replacing the highly successful Pinoy Abroad starting this July 5, Wednesday.

Hosted by five of the most respected broadcast journalists today - Kara David, Ivan Mayrina, Rhea Santos, Raffy Tima and Pia Archanghel, 100% Pinoy is primarily a magazine show about Pinoy Culture that aims to bring back the pride of every Pinoy in our heritage, tradition and identity as Filipinos.

100% Pinoy will deal on topics ranging from pop culture, performance & visual arts, religious & cultural rituals and practically anything that strengthens our identity as Filipinos!

Each episode of 100% Pinoy will discuss one particular theme but will tackle a variety of topics related to that theme. And after every episode, 100% Pinoy aims to instill nationalism and patriotism among its viewers.
