Filipinos Down Under will now be able to keep track of important developments affecting the Filipino-Australian commuity with the launch today of The Filipino Channel's (TFC) latest news program, "Balitang Australia."

Hosted by Ria Tanjuatco-Trillo, this 15-minute newscast will deliver a weekly wrap-up of headline news from the Philippines, Australia and around the world. This newscast will deliver human interest stories about Filipinos in Australia, seen through the eyes of Filipino journalists living in Australia. A segment called "Just Arrived" will also feature concerns and important information that newly arrived Filipino migrants need to know about their new life Down Under.

"Balitang Australia" brings to the fore the expertise of veteran broadcast journalist Gigi Grande, the new head of ABS-CBN's Australian News Bureau. Equipped with her 10-year experience in TV news gathering and production, Ms. Grande has set up the Sydney newsroom over the last month, recruiting and training reporters in three major Australian cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The reporters of ABS-CBN Australia Television are Ala Paredes, Ania Aquino, Carmela Gologley, Michelle Baltazar and Miko Selorio in Sydney; Al Noveloso and Ellen Desear in Melbournes; and Jerome Somodio in Brisbane.
