Bands on the Run (2001)

Reality series in which four unsigned rock bands (Soulcracker, Flickerstick, Harlow and Josh Dode's Band) go on tour and compete to draw the most crowds and sell the most merchandise at various venues across the United States. Each band is given a customized van, a club date three days away in separate venues in the same city, two motel rooms per group, and $20 per band member per day. The musicians are stripped of credit cards, other cash and cell phones before being sent to promote their forthcoming shows. Whoever generates the most revenue after each show wins that round. After five weeks, one band is eliminated. A few weeks later, a second band is eliminated, leaving only two finalists. At the end, the band that has made the most money wins equipment, money and a recording contract.
