Blott on the Landscape

Bawdy adaption of Tom Sharpe's comic tale. A landowning MP attempts to have a motorway built through the grounds of his wife's ancestral home.

Blott on the Landscape (1985)

Lady Maud is the last of the line of the Handyman family which has lived in Handyman Hall in rural England for 500 years. She is determined to preserve her heritage against the machinations of her husband, Sir Giles, who will not consummate their marriage, and who wants the compensation offered by the government if a motorway is built through the gorge in which Handyman Hall is situated. The farcical drama recounts the efforts of Lady Maud and her strange gardener, Blott, to cope with the assorted "blots" -- human, architectural, environmental, political, social, and moral -- that threaten the typically English landscape.
