Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979)

In 1987 NASA launches the Ranger III, the last of its deep space probes. A freak accident knocks the Ranger III out of its trajectory and into an orbit that freezes the vital life support systems of its pilot, Captain William "Buck" Rogers. Five hundred and four years later, Buck awakens to a new Earth in the year 2491--a world still struggling to survive the after-effects of a devastating holocaustic war centuries ago.Based in America's present capital, New Chicago, Buck becomes part of the Earth Federation, an organization established to protect Earth from sinister, alien forces. The series, based on the 1929 comic strip, details Buck's adventures in the twenty-fifth century.
