Carter Country

The series, set in Clinton Corners, Georgia, focuses on the bickering relationship between Roy Mobey, a crude, grouchy, but benevolent white police chief, and Curtis Baker, his sergeant, an urbane young black man trained in New York City.

Carter Country (1977)

Roy Mobey was the redneck long-time sheriff of Clinton Corners, Georgia, who was assigned a college-educated, New York City-trained black sergeant named Curtis Baker as his second-in-command. Despite differences in race, culture and education, the two men were able to work together in (relative) harmony. Other officers were Jasper, Cloris and Harley, while Burnside was the town's weak-willed mayor.
