Based off the highly successful Parker Brothers boardgame, comes the part mystery, part gameshow, part comedy Cluedo, hosted by comedian Ian McFadyen. The studio audience would have to correctly solve the murder mystery by identifying the suspect, weapon (which varied each week) and room involved. The person who had it locked in for the longest time (and had kept it locked in) would win an overseas holiday. Each episode revolved around the goings on at Brindabella Homestead, and the six suspects made famous from the boardgame, Colonel Mike Mustard (George Mallaby), Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock (Jane Badler), Reverend Clem Green (Peter Sumner), Mrs. Blanche White (Joy Westmore), Professor Peter Plum (Andrew Daddo) and Miss. Vivienne Scarlet (Nicki Paull). In every episode, a guest would arrive at the mansion, and through a series of events they would end up dead at the hands of one of the six suspects. Unlike the other versions of the show, the Australian version included a detective, Detective Sergeant Stanley Bogong (Frank Gallacher), who would investigate the crime. During breaks from the story, the studio audience was able to interrogate the six suspects (whereby all except the murderer had to tell the truth). A couple of people, chosen by Ian McFadyen, also gave their accusations, and everyone in the audience was informed how many out of the three choices they had correct. The series ran for 26 episodes and was aired on Channel 9. |
