Drama follows the lives of judges, lawyers and staff at a big city courthouse. Judge Justine Parker is the tough Presiding Judge struggling to keep the system working in a decaying building plagued by shrinking budgets and overcrowded calenders. Wyatt E. Jackson, fresh from Montana, is the new criminal court judge who soon clashes with Parker. Criminal Court Judge Sterling Conklin is an intimidating figure who rules with rigid authority, while his polar opposite is Myron Winkelman, a self-centeredand neurotic judge who presides over Family Court. Juvenile Court Judge Rosetta Reide is a single mother who struggles to balance her personal life and career. Passionate public defender Veronica Gilbert champions the system's poor and powerless, while sheltered young attorney Lenore Laderman was recently transferred from a quiet post to the lurid world of the sex crimes unit. Edison Moore is an ambitious young prosecutor involved with Suzanne Graham, a dedicated investigator with the D.A.'s office.
