Emergency (1995)

When Emergency aired its pilot episode in October of 1995, a network official predicted it was sure to beat its head-on competitor in the ratings. No one realized this would turn out to be a major understatement. As GMA's longest-running station-produced news and public affairs program, Emergency has changed with the times. It now runs actual rescue stories, investigative exposes, reports on medical breakthroughs and public service features every week ... letting go of the violent and bloody image it used to have.

Emergency's long-running success lies in its ability to help people in need. It not only presents real Emergency stories in the hope viewers will pick up significant lessons and eventually triumph over their own life-threatening situations but has also provided opportunities for people to come together and help each other in times of need.
