Gagambino (2008)

Weeknights will be more fascinating and colorful as GMA Network produces superb new adventures with the television debut of the newest Pinoy superhero--Carlo J. Caparas' Gagambino.

Originally created by multi-awarded comic genius Carlo J. Caparas last year, the much-anticipated graphic novel-turned-TV series Gagambino will start spinning its web of tales and adventures on GMA Telebabad. It brings to light a story of heroism, friendship, love and deceit.

Gagambino features a star-studded powerhouse cast top-billed by today's hottest award-winning actor Dennis Trillo . He will portray the charming and heroic character of Bino, an orphan who has a unique and faithful best friend - a giant spider. Together with his friend, Bino will use his amazing spider-like abilities to eradicate crime and promote peace and order in the city. He will be the people's newest superhero known as Gagambino.

The adventure begins in the mysterious and powerful place known as Tierre Higanta, the land of giant insects where only pure-hearted humans can live and interact with the gigantic creatures.

Zandro (Leo Martinez), the warden of the gate of Tierra Higanta, is now searching for a good-natured person who can be the new keeper of a powerful medallion, the key to the portal of Tierra Higanta. This happens after his former disciple Abresia (Jean Garcia) becomes wicked and evil. Zandro refutes to give the powerful medallion to Abresia, leading the woman to retaliate by sowing terror and discord .

In his search, Zandro discovers a young boy named Bino; a boy who desires to have super powers to exact his vengeance against the woman who murdered his father - Abresia. Zandro finds the boy qualified to be the next medallion keeper, leading him to convince the boy that the power he is searching for can be found in the mysterious cave that serves as a gate to Tierra Higante.

Filled with hope that he'll finally get the superpower he needs, Bino rushes towards the mysterious cave, not knowing that his friends Lucy, Bernadette, Leah, Jinky and Harold have followed him. When they all enter the portal, they fall into a pit that magically leads them into the world of Tierra Higanta!

Their noise disturbs the giant insects that roam the magical land, and the six kids are attacked. And they escape barely after they are rescued by the giant, but good-hearted, spider who wants to befriend them.

Leaving Tierra Higanta with the giant spider, Bino and his friends learn that Harold's sister did not survive - but more than that, their own lives have been altered forever by what had happened in Tierra Higanta.

Bino faces a series of misfortunes immediately after the incident; authorities are after him for the death of Jinky, his mother gets killed after letting him escape from the vengeful parents of Harold and Jinky, and he is forced to run away to the city for good.

With only his giant spider friend for company, Bino grows up in the cruel streets of Manila taking odd jobs to earn a living. He begins to fully develop his spider-like powers - leaping with great speed, crawling on walls, he can even hide himself underground! But as he grows up, Bino finds little use for his powers - until he meets a man who can guide him in using the powers he acquired in Tierra Higanta, an outstanding policeman named Dindo (Raymart Santiago).

With Dindo's guidance, Bino will finally embrace his fate and will use his powers to save and protect those who are in need - and he will be known as Gagambino.

Meanwhile, Bino's friends are also living extraordinary lives as they all possess super powers. Bino finds out that Harold (Polo Ravales) have beetle-like powers, giving him the ability to fly, destroy walls, and be bullet-proof at the same time. Sexy star Lucy (Katrina Halili) has the ability to jump high, and possesses large blades on her arms which she uses for protection. Leah (Glaiza de Castro) possesses bee-like powers: flight, sting and a voice that can be used to disarm enemies; but unlike Gagambino, she saves people for a fee. Lastly, there's Bernadette (Isabel Oli), who has scorpion-like abilities. She hates having powers, and she blames Bino for what has happened to her.

Dindo's responsibility widens as he discovers that Bino's friends also possess super powers. But his exemplary background in the police force makes him more than qualified to become the leader of this new generation of superheroes.

But the question remains - will Bino find an reconcile with his friends now that he knows they also possess super powers like him? Will Bino be able to convince his friends to unite and help him save people? And when Harold and Bino falling in love with the same girl, Celine (Nadine Samonte), will this cause tension and competition between the two of them? And are Gagambino's pure heart, power and confidence be enough to save humanity from the wrath of Abresia?
