| | Grease: You're the One that I Want (2007)A new production of "Grease" is scheduled to open on Broadway in July 2007, directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall ("The Pajama Game"). Through an "American Idol"-type competition, producers hope to find a man and a woman to play the lead roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowksi; casting calls were held all over the country, and the semi-finalists were chosen by judges Marshall, Jim Jacobs ("Grease's" co-creator) and David Ian (the producer). These performers will attend "Grease Academy" to refine their skills, and the top 12 will then perform live each week in hopes of avoiding elimination. Ultimately, a "Danny" and a "Sandy" will be chosen by America.
