| | Hokus Pokus (2005) Hokus Pokus is an innovative program that is bound to change the face of Philippine sitcoms. Featuring a delightful mix of fantasy, action, drama and comedy, Hokus Pokus will surely have viewers hooked as weekly episodes unveil further twists and information in the show’s plot and characters, making each Hokus Pokus episode a must-see every Saturday night. Hokus Pokus stars Bong Revilla and Rufa Mae Quinto in roles they have never played before -- a secret agent handling odd cases that often verge on the paranormal and a good witch who denounces her special powers and prefers to live as a mortal. The story starts with the witch Ziporah (Rufa Mae Quinto) telling her mother Matilda (Hilda Koronel), the queen of white witches, that she does not want to be a witch. Angered by her daughter’s refusal to accept their magical existence, Matilda lets Ziporah become mortal and strips her of any ability to protect herself from harm. In the mortal world, Ziporah becomes the fashion-conscious but scatterbrained Candy (who still has special power to save people other than herself) who meets and works for the family of the jeepney driver Abel (Bong Revilla). To his family and friends, Abel appears to be a kind-hearted widower who works hard as a jeepney driver to raise his two kids and niece. However, Abel is really an exceptionally skilled secret agent who mostly handles weird and supernatural cases. Candy and Abel come from different worlds, but it seems that they are destined to find one another. With Abel’s pendant for paranormal cases and Candy’s special powers, it is interesting to know how their characters will complement each other as the story of Hokus Pokus progresses. The show also stars Leo Martinez, Antonio Aquitania, K Brosas, Yasmien Kurdi, Rainier Castillo, Diego Llorico, Popoy Bardos, Sarah Alabhati, with the special participation of Ms. Hilda Koronel. Hokus Pokus is all set to revolutionize Pinoy TV sitcoms starting September 3, after Imbestigador on GMA.
