I would just like to share my unpleasant experience with the LTO and MMDA. I do not know how to get in touch with you.

My husband was scheduled to renew his license yesterday, August 27. He took the afternoon off from work and went to the Muntinlupa LTO satellite office, only to find out that he has a pending case with a traffic ticket issued to him December of 2005. He was instructed by the LTO staff to clear the said pending case at the MMDA office in Makati.

As far as that ticket is concerned, we paid that immediately after it was issued in 2005 to avoid delay of his license renewal in 2006. He was able to renew his license in 2006 without any problem.

We are mainly concerned that when he was renewing yesterday, he was not allowed because of that pending traffic ticket. However, we complied with the LTO requirement and had his name cleared at the MMDA office.

We are not woried about the penalty that will be paid for the delay in the license renewal. We are more concerned with the hassle and trouble of going all the way to Makati just to get the clearance. They reasoned that they started to be on-line last year, and that they gave instructions to the payee bank which is Metrobank to be on-line with the LTO and MMDA.

The information dissemination is so poor that cost us more than 1 day to take leave from work just to comply with their requirements. We are just hoping that others who will be renewing their driver's licenses will not experience that same hassle that we did.
