| Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5? (2007)![]() Do you love subjects like Math, Science and History? Do you love quiz shows and other brain challenging games? And do you think you are smarter than today's grade 5 students? If you do, then its time for you to take the challenge and use your brainpower to the fullest as GMA-7 launches the latest game show that will surely test your memory and wits in Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5? Based on the original concept of Mark Burnett Productions (the producer of Survivor), the hit TV show in the US dubbed as Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? is now on Philippine television. Hosted by the country's King of Soul Janno Gibbs, the newest and exciting “quiz bee” on television challenges professionals to answer questions lifted from lessons of grade one to grade five students. Joining Janno, who is the newest Chairman of the Blackboard, are the country's newest ten “classmates” who are out to help and save the contestants: Elise Espinosa, Alexis Espleta, Cheyenne Abueg, Marianne Bartolome, Joshua Suarez, Ma. Shari Oliquino, Camil Santiago, Ramoncito Logo Jr., Kim Bryan Rebonquin and Dominique Nuyda. Each classmate can only help a contestant for two consecutive questions. Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5 is played by an individual contestant who is given the chance to win up to P1 Million in cash by answering questions based on elementary text books of Grades 1 to 5. To qualify in this contest, he/she must be a working professional and should be at least 28 years old. Only those contestants who passed a series of examinations will qualify to be one of the weekly contestants of the program. Before the class begins every Saturday, Chairman Janno will ask the contestant to promise he will tell the world that he is not smarter than a grade 5 student if he drops out and fails to outsmart his classmates. During the first round, the contestant will be asked with ten questions from grade 1 to grade 5. And unlike in school where cheating is prohibited, Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5? gives the contestant a chance to cheat, not once but thrice! First, the contestant may “peek” his/her classmate's answer. He may opt to go with his/her classmate's answer or not before locking in the answer. If the contestant cannot answer the question, he/she may “copy” and lock in the answer of his classmate whether it is correct or not. The last cheat is “save” wherein if the answer of the contestant is incorrect and the locked in answer of his/her classmate is right, the contestant's answer will be considered, thus, the classmate saves him/her. In all these questions, the contestant should lock in his answer by saying out loud “Ikakasa ko na.” During the first five questions, the contestant gets eliminated and leaves the classroom without any cash prize when he chooses to answer the question but gives the wrong answer. Beginning the sixth question, however, the contestant is assured of P50,000 if he/she chooses to stop playing. At any point, he/she may choose to drop out with the amount of money currently in his money bank. When a contestant manages to finish the ten questions during the first round, he advances to the jackpot round where he gets a chance to bring home P1 million. But he must answer the jackpot question without getting any help from any of the classmates.
