“Just Another Day”
Modern Filipino politics on a somber note:
President Arroyo, after making a good start, did not proclaim any clear goals; establish a political party, or attempt to replace patronage with issue-oriented politics. Some of her fortes are her shrewd control of the armed forces, the civil bureaucracies, and even the corrupt elements in her own family and confidants. Moreover, she is too reliant on foreign support, but what's new! Reminding the Filipino people that whoever sits on the “Malacanang Palace” throne will not make any difference to negatively affect the country and its citizenry. An urgent change is necessary to salvage what's left of the Filipino politicians' decency, our cultural civility, and the country's socio-economic viability.
Recently, Gloria and her cronies from Congress, paid a visit to the United States to beg for what she calls foreign investments (vis-?-vis / more useless projects to boost her families and friends coffers). Where is her husband and the rest of congress at, by the way. (Las Vegas!) Aware that there is a massive typhoon approaching and about to devastate the island, she and her friends went anyway. The broken government system of control, policing the safety of its people, once again was exhibited throughout the world of its failures. The systems that supposedly guard the people's safety murderously sent that boat to sink with 800 hopeless citizens on board. Once again, the Philippines shamelessly made it to the front page of the worlds' newspaper and international television news agencies. See the headlines read - “The worst modern maritime accident in the world- the Philippines!” It even broke its own worse record a couple of decades ago! SHAME!!!
There is a push to change the Philippine government system of governance, from the current failed two houses of actors, bandits and corruptions, an executive (Mafiosi), and the judicial branch that prejudice the citizenry its supposed to protect to a “FEDERAL STATES”! Gosh, these politicians can't even spell their own name, what more of “FEDERALISM”! Well, I guess there will be more platforms available to fill and more politicians to fill these voids. Guess what, nothing can change a broken system unless those who break 'em will fix themselves first. Sad but it is true - now they're asking a well- known boxer to announce over the ring, on a world wide audience begging for help in one of those typhoon devastated province. (That's if he wins!)
Equally, the politicians will remain in politics, plundering what's left of the coffers and the Philippines entertainment industries stripping its own people of morality and decency! juan dela cruz
