Legend of the Seeker

 Book Difference

  • In the books, Richard does not only know Zedd as a crazy old man with whom he never speaks but instead Zedd is a friend and even a kind of mentor to Richard.

 Cast and Crew

  • Before their initial audition, Craig Horner (Richard) and Bridget Regan (Kahlan) have never read the "The Sword of Truth" series.

  • Bridget Regan had to have her hair chemically straightened and dyed brown for the role of Kahlan. She was originally a redhead.

  • Most of the casting was revealed by Robert Tapert at the 2008 Comic-Con Convention.

  • Although not stated on the show, in the books Chase's full name is Dell Brandstone.

 Costume

  • Each of the costume was custom-made for the show from scratch.

 Development

  • Sam Raimi originally plan to create a 5-part mini-series upon reading The Sword of Truth. He later settled on making a weekly television series after speaking to the books' author Terry Goodkind.

 Location

  • Legend of the Seeker is filmed in the Auckland region of New Zealand.

 Production

  • Craig Horner and Bridget Regan underwent six weeks of horse riding and stunt training before shooting began.

  • The production of this episode was delayed by three weeks due to scripts not being ready when they should have been.

  • Filming on the first season began in June 2008 and lasted 36 weeks.

 Reference

  • Based on the "Sword of Truth" book series by Terry Goodkind.

  • Some of the reoccurring characters and guest stars in the show had also appeared in all the Power Rangers seasons shot in New Zealand. Some actors even shot their scenes concurrently for both shows such as Damien Avery, James Gaylyn and Rose McIver.

 Uniqueness

  • Legend of the Seeker is the first syndication premiere series to be filmed in HD.

 Writing

  • Due to the show's production being based in New Zealand and the writing staff being based in Los Angeles, one of the biggest challenges has been dealing with the time differences and the communication issues.
