| | Lizzie McGuire (2001) Comedy series about 13-year-old Lizzie McGuire and her animated alter ego. Lizzie is a regular teenager navigating the turbulant years of junior high. That means coping with the cliques at school, keeping up with what's in and what's out, crises in the classroom as well as dealing with well-meaning parents. Lizzie hangs out with her two best friends Miranda and Gordo, and somehow manages to deal with her pesky little brother Matt. While charting her course through an alternately awesome and awkward adolescence, events, flashbacks and details are shown in a variety of images, including 16 mm film, high-8 video and digital stills. Mixing live-action and animation, Lizzie's animated alter ego is one part guardian angel and one part mischief-maker. Lizzie's conscience does things most of us only dream of, including swooning over the cutest boy in school and blowing up (literally) when her mother decides she should miss the party of the year.
