Come Fly with Me

Season 1, Episode 12

Ever the iconoclastic trend-breaker, Gordo is spotted by Lizzie listening to Frank Sinatra and other swing musicians of the late-1950's and early-1960's on his boom box. Lizzie drags Miranda to the courtyard to show him doing so. While he defends his taste in music, he also requests that they pick up another swing-era CD he wanted(while he had a podiatry appointment). After buying the CD, another student on the school bus hassles them. He swipes the CD Lizzie bought for Gordo, and teases her & Miranda over it, until Ethan Craft makes him stop. Realizing the period that the music is from, Ethan unwraps it, and puts it on his own boom box, and likes it. Suddenly all of Hillridge Junior High is getting into Las Vegas rat-pack culture, including Lizzie and Miranda(the former of which looks great as a 1960's girl). However Gordo suddenly begins to realize the other kids are simply latching onto the latest fad, many of which are even getting the slang incorrect. Kate decides to make a rat-pack theme for the next school dance, and expects Lizzie and Miranda to provide music and fashion tips. Lizzie knows that Gordo is the real expert on the subject, but he refuses to help, despite their excessive pleading. Instead he gets into model airplanes, which aren't working for him. Lizzie insists that Gordo is being idiotic by abandoning something he likes simply because other people are getting into it, but he refuses to budge.
