A romantic comedy series about the unlikely attraction of two opposites, Jack Stein, a hard-edged journalist, and Wallis "Wally" Porter, an attractive and sophisticated divorcee who has just bought Jack's favorite bar, The Blue Shamrock. Wally tries to convert the dive into an upscale restaurant, but meets opposition from Jack's friends and bar regulars: Ray, a sanition worker; Meg, a fellow journalist; and Ike, the bartender. Wally finds support from Nadine Berkus, a wealthy housewife in search of excitement, who becomes a waitress at the new establishment.When Ike Johnson suddenly dies, he is replaced by his tough-as-nails brother, Abe, who settles in as The Blue Shamrock's new bartender. |
