McHale's Navy

The misadventures of a misfit PT Boat crew during World War II.

McHale's Navy (1962)

The original format of the series (1962-65), set on the South Pacific island of Taratupa during World War II, follows the relationship between Lieutenant Quinton McHale, commander of P.T. Boat 73, and Captain Wallace B. Binghamton, the commanding officer, who is often heard complaining that McHale and his crew have turned his island into "the Las Vegas of the Pacific."The revised series format (1965-66) is set in southern Italy in the town of Voltafiore, where McHale, his crew, and Binghamton are transferred to assist in the European theater of war. Stories continue to follow the antagonisms of McHale and Binghamton, with Binghamton scheming to get McHale out of his life by exposing his sundry illegal activities.
