Mr. Merlin (1981)

After a 1600-year-absence, Merlin Silvestra, the sorcerer who was known as Merlin the Magician in medieval times, reappears in modern-day San Francisco as Max Merlin, the owner of a garage. Having fallen behind in his performances of good deeds, Merlin is ordered to find an apprentice and teach him the art of sorcery.When Zachary Rogers, an awkward, girl-crazy teenager responds to his help wanted ad, Merlin chooses him as his apprentice. The series depicts Zack's attempts to learn the art of sorcery, and his and Max's efforts to help people in distress.
