If you've come to love Gerald Anderson who epitomized perfection in My Girl, then get ready to be surprised with his latest role in Your Song Presents My Only Hope, which also stars Kim Chiu. Running for 16 weeks starting this October, get to know Joaquin “Keeno” Alejandro (Anderson), the proverbial black sheep in his affluent family who is only loved by his mother. Her sudden death, however, leaves him crushed and totally inconsolable even by his girlfriend Jessie (Niña Jose). To make matters worse, their unexpected trip to Boracay ends on a disastrous note, making Keeno more miserable than ever. With this heavy but interesting plot, Gerald agrees that he's going to show a side of him far different from what people have seen on TV before. For this series, he has to sport a new look: a modern-day “emo” dude whose all-black outfit, punk hairstyle, and pale face usually reflect his character's brooding moods as well. “Oo, medyo naninibago pa ko pero okay naman. Ito'ng bangs kasi dinikit kang so nag-aadjust pa ko. Tapos kailangan ko ring magpatubo ng facial hair, ayan 'di ba? Hindi kasi ako masyadong familiar sa mga emo eh. Pero chineck ko sa internet and nagtanong ako kung ano'ng mga music ang pinapakinggan nila. Then nag-download din ako ng mga hard rock songs to prepare myself for it,” he reveals. The young heartthrob believes that although it requires him to do something that's out of his comfort zone, portraying a manic-depressive role enables him to enhance his acting chops. “At least, hindi lang paulit-ulit yung ginagawa ko. Eto naman seryoso din pero hindi kasing seryoso ni Julian. Iba talaga 'to from My Girl kasi mabigat yung story, mas malalim, at mas madaming drama. But I'm sure maraming makakarelate ditto,” he stresses. Gerald further divulges that it is his and Kim's first time to visit Boracay where they shot the first few episodes of the show. Kimerald fans should definitely watch out for their fun and kilig moments on the beach plus Gerald's sexy scenes done in the picture-perfect locations on the island. |
