My Three Sons (1960)

The series, set first in the fictional all-American town of Bryant Park, then in North Hollywood, California, follows the trials and tribulations of widower Steve Douglas and his three sons.Widower Steve Douglas, a consulting aviation engineer, lives with his three sons, Mike, Robbie and Chip, in the Midwest city of Bryant Park. Steve's father-in-law, "Bub" O'Casey lives with them and serves as a kind of housekeeper to the family. When he left for Ireland (midway during 1964-65 season), he wasreplaced by his brother, Uncle Charley, a retired sailor.At the start of the 1965-66 season, son Mike marries girlfriend Sally and moves East to teach psychology at a university. Steve subsequently adopts the orphaned Ernie Thompson, Chip's close friend. In Fall 1967, the family moved from the Midwest to North Hollywood, California. Robbie falls in love with Katie Miller, one of his fellow students at college, and they marry before the end of the season. In Fall 1968, the newlyweds discover that Katie is pregnant and during the season she gives birth to triplets--three sons. In 1969, Steve falls in love with and marries widow Barbara Harper, one of Ernie's teachers. Barbara's young daughter, Dodie, joins the family. Chip elopes with college girlfriend, Polly Williams, in Fall 1970.In Fall 1971, steve's cousin, nobleman Fergus McBain Douglas, arrives in search of a wife to take back to Scotland. He falls in love with cocktail waitress Terri Dowling.
