NYPD Blue (1993)

"NYPD Blue" pulls few punches in portraying the day-to-day life of cops in New York's 15th Precinct. Characters' personal lives intertwine with the cases they work, which often deal with the worst elements the city has to offer. The show has enjoyed an enormously successful run on ABC, with dozens of Emmy nominations and multiple awards for star Dennis Franz.
