Danny Thomas returns to series television in a syndicated comedy show about Uncle Jake, a former vaudevillian who lives with and offers parental advice to his five orphaned nieces and nephews. In the first episode, "Roger Runs Away," the youngest nephew, Roger, refuses to go to a baseball game with his oldest brother and runs away in anger over his parents' deaths.
