Princess Sarah (2007)

Considered as one of the network's biggest projects this year, no expense was spared in making sure that each episode is one grand production. The story is about a princess named Sarah Crewe, who lives in an elite boarding school with other girls. After her father dies during an expedition, at sea, she becomes an orphan and is forced to work as a maid in the same school. She is maltreated by the headmistress and other jealous students. But with her kindness and pure heart, she gains the love of new friends.

With a powerhouse cast that will surely impress, Princess Sarah is top-billed by child superstar Sharlene San Pedro. Albert Martinez plays her father Mr. Crewe and Sheryl Cruz plays the headmistress Miss Minchin. Diether Ocampo, Candy Pangilinan, Carlos Agassi, Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks are also part of the stellar cast of this grand production. Commercial model Bubbles Paraiso makes her acting debut in this series while Ms. Ai Ai Delas Alas appears in a special role made just for this kiddieserye.

Directed by Nuel Naval and Don Cuaresma, the series is not just aimed for kids but for adults as well. "We decided to put a back story for Miss Minchin and Capt. Crewe that wasn't fully explained in the animated series. They have history, which is why she treats Sarah that way," explains Direk Noel. For the Pirates Of The Carribean-inspired scenes, for which production had to build a ship and film underwater, Direk Cuaresma recalls, "We had to shoot for three days in Fortune Island in Batangas. It was really hard. We didn't have enough water. But they were really good sports about it." When the actors were asked what was most difficult about the stunts, "We had to do fight scenes and then dive into open water in full costume. There were scuba divers waiting, just in case we drown," Diether recalls. Promising to be an action-packed adventure as well, Princess Sarah aims to teach its viewers about friendship, family and love.
