Constantly mocked as a fool for his ingenious inventions, Quentin E. Deverill, an American professor of physics and mechanics at Harvard, resigns in mid-semester to pursue his own private research. The series, set in London in 1912, follows Deverill's exploits as an amateur sleuth and slightly eccentric inventor.
