Rescue Heroes (1999)

Children's animated series that focuses on a group of characters who promote preparedness and "safety first" during their elaborate and successful rescue missions. The five lead characters are: William "Billy" Blaze, the clear-headed team leader who specializes in fires and explosives; Wendy Waters, the second in command who uses her knowledge of chemical engineering to concoct firefighting solutions in their lab; Jake Justice, an African-American former motorcycle cop with a masters in educationwho rescues people and teaches people how to avoid trouble; Mariah Montez, an Hispanic doctor, also trained as a veterinarian and pilot, who rescues and treats humans and animals during disasters; and Ricky "Rocky" Canyon, the young African-American rookie of the team who, as a geology major and rock climber, provides valuable insight about disasters such as rockslides and volcanoes.
