Lady Isabella Thornton is Guy of Gisborne's younger sister and the new Sheriff of Nottingham; she is played by Lara Pulver. In her first few episodes she acts as a replacement of Marian as Robin's new love interest and 'spy in the enemy camp' at Nottingham, yet later on this changes. Her brother sold her to her husband, Squire Thornton, when she was just 13 and during episode 5 she runs away and Robin saves her from being taken back to him, though she later returns to Nottingham. In episode 6 she begins a romantic relationship with Robin. In Episode 7 of series 3 her relationship with Robin is discovered by Prince John and Gisborne. After escaping certain death, she tries to convince Robin to leave with her and start fresh somewhere else. Robin however refuses, as he is Robin Hood and can't abandon the people. He also tells her that he tried to have a life with love and marriage, but it just caused to much pain. An angry Isabella turns on him and joins Prince John's side (after telling him how Gisborne was going to let her live). In episode 8, Isabella becomes a candidate for next Sheriff after Guy of Gisborne is demoted and casted as an outlaw. Her rival was Sheridan, an old friend of Robin Hood's who coached him how to be a knight but decided to join Prince John's side. Sheridan fails to kill Robin Hood and Gisborne but Lady Isabella catches and imprisons her brother ergo, Prince John appointed her Sheriff of Nottingham. She briefly appointed a fellow strict feminist like herself, Megan as her deputy. Megan fell in love with Guy so she had her beheaded. Robin Hood saves Megan who dies in the arms of her boyfriend. In episode 10, Sheriff Isabella has a new brother who also has become an enemy of her colleague the Sheriff of York. |
