The disciples are leaving because of a rumour that the legendary Battousai is murdering people under the Kamiya Dojo name. One day, Kaoru meets a man with red hair, an 'X' scar on his face and brandishing a sword. She attacks him, believing him to be responsible for ruining Kamiya Dojo's reputation. She realizes her mistake when the real culprit turns up, and together with the red-haired man, restores her dojo's reputation. This red-haired man is none other than Kenshin, the true Battousai.
