A drama/comedy series exploring the memories of Hannah Rayburn, a 47-year-old journalist. Hannah looks back to 1965, the year that she moved to Ashmore, North Carolina, with her over-protective Jewish family, who enrolled her in an elite Catholic school. Hannah feels like a fish out of water until 12-year-old Grace McKee, her intelligent, spirited and independent schoolmate, gives her a new lease on life. Grace is the irrepressible, tough-minded daughter of a jet-setting mother, Tattie. When Graceis not at school, she is cared for by the family's chauffeur and housekeeper. She helps Hannah break the parental chains that have held her back for most of her life. In turn, the Rayburns offer Grace the only thing her privilege has failed to provide her: the attention of a family. |
