It also showcases mundane details about celebrities' lives that other shows don't consider funny or entertaining. This has led the show to gain a bit of a cult following.

TMZ also is very critical of pseudo-celebrities created by reality TV and the media, questioning their importance in relation to more standard celebrities of TV and cinema.
