The Gallant Men (1962)

The series is set in Salerno, Italy, during the Italian Campaign of World War II (1943). The story of Conley Wright, a foreign correspondent assigned to the 36th infantry of the American Fifth Army. Scared and unsure of himself, he accompanies the squad on suicide missions and reports the experiences of men desperately seeking to end the war and return home.
