TRIVIA: Uniqueness

A controversial move was made in this series to give the normally silent Pink Panther a voice.

The Pink Panther Show (1993)

This version stars the legendary hip feline in new adventures. Alongside the panther are his longtime friends and co-stars from other DFE shorts, The Inspector, The Ant and the Aardvark, Tijuana Toads, Crazylegs Crane, The Blue Racer, Misterjaw, Hoot Koot, Pink Panther's Sons and The Dogfather (The Dogfather and his cronies were redesigned for this series), as well as "The Little Man" who was a co-star in the original theatrical shorts alongside the cool cat. Also, some new characters were created for the show, including a mask-wearing tribal witch doctor named Voodoo Man, a muscular guy named Manly Man, little red-headed girl Thelma, a sweet old lady Mrs. Chubalingo, her pet parrot Jules and dog-gangsters Pugg, Louie and Dogfather.

What made this show different from other Pink Panther shows was the fact that the usually-silent main character was now talking (with the voice of Matt Frewer).

The show was nominated for a daytime Emmy award in 1994 for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition.
