The Real... (2007)

Prominent locals take us to their haunts - and reveal the secrets behind the bright lights and tourism of each city. This guide offers a unique insider's glimpse into local theatre life, tucked away bars, shops and restaurants - in short the most rewarding places to explore.

Artist Spencer Tunick takes us around his haunts in Chelsea, where his career kicked off. Renowned cook and author Madhur Jaffrey shows us where she stocks up on fresh produce in New York's China Town, revealing the gems crammed with delicious looking fresh fare for very low prices. Supermodel Alek Wek leads us to her favorite boutique, to the beach under Brooklyn Bridge and to a bookshop in Harlem - where she gets a warm welcome. Tokyo

This programme sees architect Dr Kisho Kurokawa show us the delights of the waterfront in Tokyo from his private launch. Inventor Dr Nakomats shows us his gold bathroom where he locks himself away to invent new gadgets before taking us to eat at Shabu Shabu where they use one of his inventions to cook the meat. Lastly DJ Chris Peppler shows us a crazy Karoke bar where punters not only sing, but play their own instruments too! Paris

Olivier Picasso, grandson of the famous artist, shows us his Paris. He takes us to visit Cité de l'Architecture and Cafe de l'homme a great place for coffee and croissant with spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower. Renowned chef Philippe Legendre ventures away from the centre of town to the World's largest fresh food and flower market, where many Parisian and restaurateurs shop; and hip DJ and designer Cecile Togni introduces us to her hair dresser and the oldest American Bar in Paris where the Bloody Mary was invented.
