A lady employee wrote to her immediate supervisor complaining about a male senior manager (married, based in another branch), who for several instances made verbal comments to her like "...pwedi na siguro sundan anak mo no. Gusto mo anakan kita?" she let these go thinking the guy was only making a joke or kidding her, until the time when the guy was in a meeting in the city and he texted the lady employee with the message "Mag isa ako dito ngayon sa room ko gusto mo samahan ako?". This txt message finally made the employee very upset and feel that she was being disrespected, so the written complaint. Management immediately organized a meeting of both parties and while the guy admitted making such comments, he insisted he was just joking and did not mean anything serious. Management decided to send out a written reminder to all employees to be mindful of how they behave and of the HR Code of Conduct. The employee is now more upset and disaappointed because no appropriate action against the guy was made, not even a written reprimand. She says even feels worse now, especially when her immediate supervisor told her "to let it go for now...". Questions: can the guy's verbal advances be classified as sexual harassment? Can an employee make a follow-up complaint to management and DEMAND action against the guy - what actions could the employee demand from management? If management will not apply appropriate action, what should be the employee's next steps? What can DOLE (or what government agency could be involved?) to educate private companies/organizations about our laws on sexual harassment? Maraming salamat po.

BTW, when will you both host a segment in UH? Just a thought po.

For everyone at UH: since I got based in MM for work, I have developed the habit of watching and listening to Unang Hirit every morning mula paggising, while watering my herbal plants, hanggang breakfast time and even while I'm in the shower and preparing to leave for office - walang lipatan!
