ABC launches the country's first live and interactive TV home shopping show. Dubbed VENTA5 (read as 'venta singko'), the program will start airing nationwide this Septmber 8, at 10am, with a 3-hour, 6 days a week (Mondays to Saturdays) deals on retail exclusives with unmatched value offers.

Spotting the weaning consumer credibility of current infomercials on-air their “WOW” Products and “BUT WAIT” Offers, ABC ups the ante by setting the broadcast live, in real time. VENTA5 is the only live and interactive television home shopping program in the Philippines today. VENTA5 presents itself to Filipinos as the place for unmatched value offers- in terms of quality, price and good customer service. VENTA5 will be hosted by 'real people' namely: veteran actress Boots Anson Roa, sports anchor Patricia Bermudez-Hizon, TV anchor Claudine Trillo, 2002 Bb. Pilipinas Universe Karen Agustin, singer Adrienne Sarmiento, news reporter Heidi Santos, young host/actress Chal Lontoc, sports anchor Magoo Marjon and host/DJ Raffy Ruiz (see detailed description of hosts in the following pages). Boots will be the main host tying up all segments, while the rest alternate on different product categories, each according to his/her expertise. The show allows audience to interact with hosts on air for their inquiries, testimonials and reactions.

VENTA5 will be the first television program with the intention to promote the products and genius of Filipino inventions.

Aside from being the name of the show, VENTA5 is also an ABC subsidiary corporation set up to manage the live interactive home TV shopping for the network. It is one of ABC's allied businesses ventures.

ABC Director for Allied Businesses Jose Javier manages production, while VENTA5 Managing Director Gerry Castro oversees sourcing and marketing of local and international products for the program. Castro, also VP for marketing at the Cojuangco owned Philippine Multi-Media System, Inc. (PMSI), operator of Dream Satellite TV, pioneered electronic retailing in the country back in 1994. His company Quatermaster International Inc., put up the first TV home shopping channel on SKY CABLE dubbed as SKYSHOP. The channel run for a year with resounding success, after which Sky Cable replaced it with its own TV shopping show, SKY MALL. Meanwhile, Castro moved on to bring TV shopping to the general public over terrestrial television with TV WINDDOWSHOP. This was shown in NBN4, rPON9, IBC13, SBN21, RJ29-including ABC. Since then, TV home shopping has become a very active business category in television and retailing.
