The series focuses on the conflict between the McGregors, a family of wealthy oil developers residing on Montrose Ranch, and the Henrys, a widow and her three daughters whose neighbouring Rivercross Ranch the McGregor family covets. David McGregor has provided a mortgage to the Henrys to help them operate their ranch on a day-to-day basis with the promise to repay $10,000 back monthly. When the girls fail to do so and find themselves in arrears in excess of $60,000, David tries to foreclose on the property but not until after he offers to purchase the property at fair market value. What the Henrys do not know is that their land is oil-rich. David had a geologist survey the land to only discover that the Henrys hold what would be the largest oil find in the region. While Maggie and David have had past personal relations and were said to be dating, this has stopped in the wake of David's ambitions on the Rivercross Ranch. |
