| 10 years of Anne CurtisAuthor: Malaya SHE first came to Viva when she was 12 years old, to audition for a role in Peque Gallagas "Magic Kingdom." Even then, Viva could already see that Anne Curtis was going to blossom into a major star. "Super-pretty siya; mukha talagang artista. She looked like a young Brooke Shields," recalls manager Veronique del Rosario, head of the Viva Artists Agency (VAA), which is responsible for managing Annes career. Viva signed her up to a contract immediately. This was in 1997. This year, Anne is celebrating her 10th year in show business and her 10th year with Viva as welltwo special milestones that she is marking with a show for all her friends and fans at Market! Market! on Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m. Some of her celebrity friends will join her to help entertain the fans. Aside from the production numbers, there will also be games for everyone. Veronique says that without a doubt, Anne has fulfilled the promise that Viva saw in her 10 years ago, when she was a newcomer. True enough, Anne has blossomed into a truly fine actress. She has proven her versatility in comedy and drama, the latter with her performances in the series like "Hiram," "Kampanerang Kuba" and "Maging Sino Ka Man," now shooting its much-awaited Book Two. And yes, Annes character Celine will still be in the series. And the good news is that Annes career just keeps rolling. Aside from hosting "A.S.A.P." and being an MTV VJ, Anne is about to start her own soap, "The Weddings," opposite Zanjoe Marudo and Derek Ramsey. The show is a Koreanovela-inspired light romance, the perfect build-up to another much-awaited project, Annes movie opposite Aga Muhlach. "Shes wanted that ever since she was 12," reveals Veronique. "Noon niya pa sinasabi na kung may dream leading man siya, si Aga yun. Alam ni Tita Ethel (Ramos, Agas manager) yun. But we wanted her to mature as an actress first and make sure that she was ready, talent-wise, for a leading man like Aga. We believe that now, the timing is right." The movie, tentatively titled "Waiting for Love," is a co-production venture between Viva Films and Star Cinema and will be directed by Jose Javier Reyes. There are more projects waiting in the wings, all of which prove that Anne after 10 years in the business has earned the right to be called one of the most important stars of her generation. And no one knows this more than Viva. "Weve nurtured her all these years. Aside from the talent, shes a very kind-hearted person, thats why everyone loves to work with her," says Veronique. She expects Anne to get better and better. "She is ready to take it to the next level. We fully believe that," concludes Veronique. Source: Malaya |
