A possible project for KC?

Former flight attendant Margarita Marquis tells her story in the book, "Moudifa! Airhostess sa Isang Walang Layang Bansa."

It’s an inspiring story, meant to educate others of what awaits them when they go to work in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia where she was based. "I didn’t want to scare anyone. I didn’t judge anyone," she says. "More important, I don’t want to stop anyone from going there because I know people need the money [to support their families]. We survive because of it. My intention was really to just educate people on what to expect when they go there."

Now available in all major bookstores, the book is a compilation of Margarita’s experiences as a Filipino working in a foreign land. In a way, the book, while it brought back some unpleasant memories, helped her come to terms with what happened.

The book touches on human rights and, in particular, women’s rights. "I had hang-ups about what happened to me [while I was working there]. I would have strange dreams, and I’d cry," shares Margarita. "Aside from that, I could also see what other Filipinos were going through, and I was bothered. I started thinking, ‘Why am I bothered?’ I didn’t want to go to a psychologist, although I wanted to speak out about human rights and women’s rights."

Marquis’ story would make a good episode of a drama anthology or even a short film. "I’m actually interested to make it into a movie, most probably an indie film," she says.

Asked who she has in mind to star as herself, she says without hesitation: KC Concepcion.

"KC has a lot of advocacies, including women’s right. This is right up her alley. She is also very accessible to the masses, yet has an image that appeals to the upper class. She would be perfect for this," Margarita says.

Would KC, fresh from the successful "When I Met You," consider it? Who knows? She has after all shown her versatility in her projects and more than that, expressed her willingness to support several causes for children, women and also the environment.
