Alex: No to boob job

THE male stars in the OctoArts Filmfest entry "One Night Only" were asked at its presscon who among the actresses in the film they’d like to have for "One Night Only." Ricky Davao, Paolo Contis and Joross Gamboa all chose Alessandra de Rossi and not the more boobsy Katrina Halili, Diana Zubiri, Valerie Concepcion and absent cast member Jennylyn Mercado who’s in the U.S.

"Well, thank you, feeling ko, ang haba ng hair ko," says Alex. "Nakakatakang ako napili. I’m not well-endowed naman like my co-stars. Sa pictorial nga naming lima na kumot lang ang cover namin. Walang masabitang boobs ‘yung kumot sa’kin kaya nagmukhang turtle neck kasi nilagay ko hanggang leeg ko."

Does she intend to have it augmented later?

"Ay, hindi no. Never naging issue for me naI have small boobs, just like ‘yung kulay ko na sinasabi nilang magpa-skin whitening ako. No, satisfied na ko sa binigay sa’kin ni Lord kasi, tingnan nyo nga ‘yung guys dito, ako’ng pinili."

Paolo says the reason is that Alex is so talkative.

"Mas masarap kasama ang babaing madaldal at baka magamit pa sa ibang paraan ang bibig niya," he adds mischievously.

In "One Night Only," Paolo plays a horny movie actor who beds his fans. Alex plays a promdi fan who he takes to a motel thinking she’s a virgin "manang." "But I get the surprise of my life dahil ang inakala kong tatahi-tahimik at walang alam, siya palang kilabot sa kama. Ang ending, ako nang sumusuko sa kanya dahil gusto pa niya, pero ako, hindi ko na kaya. Napanood ko ang episode namin at tawa ako nang tawa."

How does Alex feel working with Kapuso stars again?

"It’s nice to be working with them again but I have no regrets about moving to ABS. Walang tigil ang projects nila for me. I was in ‘Betty La Fea’ and I already did two episodes of ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya,’ then I was also in ‘Pieta’ and I’m doing another soap soon. At least, tinupad nila ang promise nila sa’kin na hindi nila ko pababayaan."

Sam Milby says he feels embarrassed that the names of other actresses were dragged into his recent breakup with Anne Curtis, like KC Concepcion, Rufa Mae Quinto and newcomer Mikaela Melania. "It’s really unfair for them dahil they have nothing to do with me at all," he says. "Nakakahiya sa kanila. Whatever happened between Anne and I, sa aming dalawa lang ‘yun. We already said there’s no third party involved, but I don’t know why some people, isinasali pa rito ang mga wala namang kinalaman at all."

Anne says it’s his desire to clarify his relationship first with the Lord that prompted him to break up with her. "That’s true. Kasi, before anything else, it’s really best to straighten and strengthen your relationship with God muna. Kapag naayos na ‘yun, that’s the only time you can go into a more serious relationship with others. Also, I decided to focus better on my work."

He’s proud of his first indie digital film, "Cul De Sac (Deadend)," a project of Albert Martinez’ Cinemabuhay with PLDT-Smart Foundation and the directorial debut of 23-year-old Juan Miguel Sevilla who finished masscomm at Ateneo. "After I read the script, I decided to accept the offer even if I’d get a much lesser talent fee than what I get from mainstream movies. The role I play is an acting piece, with action scenes pa, so I welcome the challenge. And I’m glad kasi parang hindi bago si Direk Juan Miguel. You won’t think he’s a first time director kasi magaling siya, very deep. He also knows how to get me motivated for me to give my best. I play a call center agent who has a mysterious past. I meet two different women, Jodi Santamaria and Chin Chin Gutierrez, and through them, I try to discover what happened to me. That’s all I can reveal para naman ma-suspense ang viewers."

Albert Martinez was absent at the presscon. He went biking even if it was raining hard so he got sick.

Whatever happened to the case filed by Mocha and her band members against a tabloid that accused them of being lesbians? "Tuloy po ang kaso," says Mocha at the launching of her second album, "Delisciosa," at Ratsky Morato. "We are scheduled to appear in the court hearing on December 9.Tutuluyan ko po ito kasi sa halip na makipag-ayos sa amin, they published more stories about us na para bang gusto kami talagang inisin at asarin."

Mocha and co-singers Hershey, Bez and Grace performed several songs from their album and they’re really topnotch performers. They not only sing well but also do well-choreographed dance moves. "Delisciosa" is their follow-up to their successful first album, "Patcha." It has 15 songs, including "Delisciosa Christmas Medley," "Twirl It," "Hawak Mo Aking Kamay," "Giling Mo," "Ladidadi," "Mobe," "Sige, Paalam Na," the provocative remake of the Katy Perry hit, "I Kissed a Girl." The album launch is sponsored by Yellow Tail, Jancen Cosmetic Surgery, Ysa Skin Clinic, etc.

Mocha is now also into acting. She plays the female lead in the horror-drama, "Ang Sumpa," written by Eric Ramos and directed by Victor "Bong" Agustin. She’s using her real family name for the first time, Uson. "Sabi kasi ni Direk, this is to distinguish Mocha the singer from Mocha Uson, the actress."

So how’s her experience doing her first movie?

"I had a great time acting with Mark Gil and Joross Gamboa. I’d like to thank them kasi they gave me tips about acting before the camera."

What’s her role? "I play a mysterious girl who meets Joross while he’s vacationing in the home of his uncle, Mark Gil. There’s a twist in the story that I cannot reveal kasi it will spoil the movie for the viewers. Basta ako ‘yung sumpa being referred to in the film’s title. How this came to be so, kung paano ako naging sumpa at kung paano ko isinumpa ang bahay na ‘yun, will be revealed later in the story."

Mocha and her girls continue to sing at Mugen Metrowalk on Tuesdays, New Wave Macapagal Avenue on Wednesdays, Hard Rock Makati on Thursdays and Bagaberde Roxas Blvd. on Fridays.

Carmen Soo, the Malaysian actress who stars in ABS-CBN’s "Kahit Isang Saglit," has been signed up by Petit Monde to join Jodi Sta. Maria and Cheska Garcia as one of their signature models. Obviously, Carmen has fallen in love with our country which is why she keeps coming back here.

"I don’t mind staying here for good for the sake of my career," she says. "I’m here, first of all, for work, so it’ll depend on if I’d have continuous work here. Then, also, if I found a person that I’d love, I can stay here."

Will that be Jericho Rosales?

"No, we’re not even dating. We’re just good friends after working together. He told me he’d show me the beauty of Boracay, but he hasn’t done that yet and our show is about to end."

Why did Petit Monde get her as an endorser?

"She represents what Petit Monde is all about, sweet yet daring, classy yet adventurous," says owner Dorothy Tan-Tionson. "She’ll introduce our brand to other Asian markets."

"I endorse other products in Malaysia, but I really love the clothes of Petit Monde as they’re so fashionable, comfortable and up to date," says Carmen. "It fits my personality."
