And the winner is...

Author: Celine Gabriel
Column: Life & Entertainment

I want to thank everyone who sent me an e-mail in response to my last article. As I always say, all your thoughts, comments, suggestions are very welcome and you can send it to celine_gabriel_column@yahoo.com. Of course, last week's column was all about the basic elements of style and I must say that all of you had really great recommendations for what should have been included in my top 10 list. But as promised, only one gave me a suggestion that truly made its mark and that person is ROXANNE VILLANUEVA. Roxanne Villanueva said that good underwear should have been part of my list, and she's right. Great underwear is the most basic item that can make or break an outfit. So thank you so much Roxanne, I will e-mail you the details of collecting your prize for sending me the BEST answer in response to last week's article.

Question 1:

Dear Fashion Globetrotter,

Where can I manufacture my own bags? I want to design my own and maybe market it to my friends? Hope you can help me.

Clarisse

Answer:

Dear Clarisse,

It's great that you have that entrepreneurial spirit. If bags are your passion then by all means you should design your own. Your friends will surely be glad to be clutching on to something that you designed. If you have some designs in mind and need to have someone manufacture it for you, you can contact Trina at 0917-812-2247.

Good luck!

Question 2:

Hi!

I would like to know if it's okay to wear black to my friend's wedding? Some people tell me it's not right and some people tell me it's okay. What is the real deal? Hope you can help me settle this as I will be attending the wedding soon and the dress I want to wear is black. Thank you!

Maris, QC

Answer:

Dear Maris,

I for one am all about breaking the rules when it comes to fashion so if it were up to me I would totally tell you to by all means wear your black dress. HOWEVER, weddings are also a very personal event and some people DO consider wearing black as something that is "unlucky" for the newlyweds. Whether you believe this or not, I think it's more important to always be considerate towards the feelings of the bride and groom, and of course the families involved. If you can, ask them first if it's okay, that would be great. If not, then I suppose I would have to recommend that you choose something else.

You can always save that beautiful black dress for another event.

Cheers!

Question 3:

Dear Celine,

I'd like to have some jewellery made. In gold or silver. I have my own designs and I'm hoping to have it made. Do you know anyone that can help me? Hope it won't cost that much though. Hope you have some contacts. Thank you very much and I love your column, it is very informative.

Maritess Rodriguez

Answer:

Dear Maritess,

First of all thank you so much for reading Fashion Globetrotter! I do have a jeweller that I have been going to for a very long time. I applaud you for coming up with your own designs. By doing this you can ensure that your accessories are your own and one-of-a-kind. Creating your own piece is a fun process. You can choose the stones, conceptualize a design, and best of all dictate your price and have the jeweller work with your given budget.

Of course your jeweller will also tell you if your budget is workable or not, but always, things can be negotiated and worked out. As my particular recommendation, please contact Gina at 027-255-873.

Enjoy!
