‘Angel, we wish you all the best’

GMA-7?S Senior Vice President for Entertainment Wilma Galvante talked about Angel Locsin?s sudden departure from their camp to join ABS-CBN in "Showbiz Central." "Twice, we asked if she?s talking to ABS and twice, she said no," says Wilma. "Sabi pa niyawhen we met with her and her manager, Becky Aguila, at Makati Shangri-la in early July, ?Hindi ako lilipat. Walang katotohanan ?yan. Mahal na mahal ko kayo.? Even before her contract expired, we offered to renew it repeatedly. But they said Angel wants to rest and attend the premiere of her movie, ?Angels,? in the US, so they begged off from doing ?Marimar.? We only found out that she?s leaving when they were interviewed in ?TV Patrol,? which was obviously pre-taped. Then they sent us a letter notifying us Angel won?t renew her contract."

It?s said Angel is sore at GMA-7 for not supporting "Angels." "All the trailers of the movie shown on GMA-7, walang bayad. GMA even bought its TV rights for P3 million and Becky got P1.5 million of that in advance."

Angel is also unhappy that Richard Gutierrez earns more than her. "From 2006 to 2007, Angel earned P60 million from the TV shows and endorsements she did while she?s with us. She can?t compare her earnings with Richard who has three regular shows: ?Lupin,? ?Nuts Entertainment? and ?SOP.? So he really earns more. E, siya, she only does soap dahil she can?t sing and ayaw rin niyang sumayaw dahil pagod na raw siya."

Did they call Angel an ingrate? "The word ?ingrata? didn?t come from us. People who say that are entitled to their own opinion. But a grateful person would have negotiated with us in good faith, with honesty, and treated us more fairly because we took good care of her for six years. Despite what she did to us, we still wish her well. Angel, we wish you all the best."

The program manager, Redgie Acuna, who handled all of Angel?s shows on GMA-7, says she feels personally hurt by what Angel did. "When she saidpagod na siya, we were the one who told her manager to give her a rest kasi hindi na siya maganda sa TV, mukha ngang pagod na. We even gave her a vacation so she can attend their family reunion. When ?Majika? ended in September, December na nag-start ang ?Asian Treasures.? E, hindi lang naman ang show sa?min ang ginagawa niya kaya pagod nga siya.

"Nakakagulat dahil biglang may mga lumabas na nagrereklamo na siya when she never communicated them to us. Ang laki ng hirap ko sa kanya. Alam niya kung paano namin pinaghirapan ang bawat show niya from ?Mulawin? at ?Darna.? Namuhunan ang GMA sa kanya. Puede naman siyang umalis, pero nagsabi sana sila ng maayos ng manager niya. We asked for several meetings with them, lagi silang busy. We?re not going to force her to stay. Ang masakit, nagsinungaling siya sa amin. She said?di niya kinakausap ang ABS, pero kinakausap na pala nila."

A surprising revelation in "Showbiz Central" is the interview with Judy, the wife of Cedric, Vina Morales? boyfriend. This took place at the "Ms. Ugly No More" coronation at Teatrino where Judy was also celebrating her birthday. It appears that Cedric, who was present there, is not really separated yet from his wife. Judy says they have two sons, aged 11 and 8. She even said God is in the center of their relationship and with Jessica Rodriguez as her friend, she needs no enemies. The show tried to contact Vina, who?s in the US, to get her side, but she didn?t respond.

John Lapus interviewed Pops Fernandez about her current tiff with ex-husband Martin Nievera who was interviewed in QTV-11?s "The Sweet Life" and praised Katrina Ojeda to high heavens as she?s faithful.

Pops said: "I was very faithful to our marriage. He was the one who?s not faithful because of Katrina. Ever since, ang problema is because of Katrina, gets ko na ?yun. Nagsalita lang ako bilang isang inang ipinagtatanggol ang mga anak ko." There was an interview with their two sons, Robin and Ram, and Pops cried when they proclaimed her "the greatest mother" who?s more of a friend to them. About the rumored wedding with Jomari Yllana, Pops said this is not true. "We don?t pressure each other about weddings."

Dennis Trillo feels sad about Angel Locsin?s transfer to ABS-CBN. "I wasn?t expecting it," he says. "Kasi marami kaming pinagsamahang shows and she never mentioned that she?s not happy with GMA-7 anymore. But that?s her decision at kung saan siya masaya, I guess we just have to respect and accept it and wish her luck. Marami lang siyang kakompetensiyang makakalaban dun, unlike sa GMA-7 na reynang-reyna siya. If she asked for my advice, I?d tell her not to move. Kasi ako, galing na ako run, ?di ba? But it?s GMA-7 who gave me my big break at very happy ako ngayon dito. Anyway, magkikita pa rin naman kami kasi we?re supposed to do a movie sa Regal directed by Joey Reyes. Sana, matuloy pa ?yun kahit nasa kabila na siya."

He now plays Christopher de Leon?s role in the "Sine Novela" version of "Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap." Doesn?t he feel it?s quite a demotion doing an afternoon show since he comes from primetime? "No, it?s still a blessing. At least, hindi ako nawawalan ng assignment. Pareho naman kami ni Nadine Samonte na leading lady ko rito, galing kami sa ?Super Twins? and now, we?re in this afternoon soap. Okay lang as the roles we play are really good. Actually, may pressure nga sa?min as the show we?re replacing, ?Sinasamba Kita,? is rating very high. Dapat, mapantayan man lang namin ?yun."

We heard some female stars in ABS-CBN are not so happy about the coming transfer of Angel Locsin to their camp. Of course, when you ask them, they?d say they welcome her as a "kapamilya." But confidentially, one actress says she doesn?t look forward to working with Angel. "Baka lumabas pang suporta lang ako sa kanya. Hindi na siya dapat lumipat dito."

Another actress says she?s surprised that ABS-CBN is giving her a very high talent fee. "Ang tagal ko na rito, never akong naka-receiveng ganung talent fee. Dapat, taasan na rin nila ang talent fee ko at gawing kasinlaki ng sa kanya."

It?s obvious that Angel?s move to ABS-CBN will not be a bed of roses for her as this early, resentment among her future co-stars is threatening any working relationship she might have with them. What?s bad is that the other talents of manager Becky Aguila are said to be aversely affected by Angel?s "ober da bakod" jump. Jennylyn has been yanked out of "Pasan Ko ang Daigdig" and her only project now is Bong Revilla?s "Resiklo." Even Valerie Concepcion has no new assignment after "Sinasamba Kita."

Ricky Davao was the most visible actor among the films shown at the CCP in Cinemalaya. He played a real estate executive in "Tukso," directed by Dennis Marasigan. He was also in "Endo" with Jason Abalos and Ina Feleo and "Sinungaling na Buwan" ("Liar Moon") where he had a blowjob scene with Liza Dino, directed by Ed Lejano. But his biggest role is in the guest entry, "Signos," written and directed by Aloy Adlawan. He played the father of Luis Alandy who lives in their huge house in the province with his new family. Luis is married to Nancy Castiliogne and stays in Manila. He hated it when Ricky remarried and Irma Adlawan became his stepmother.

"Reunion namin ito ni Irma after ?Pusang Gala,? where I played her gay neigHBOr," says Ricky. "Ngayon, mag-asawa na kami."

The film is a horror flick about the ominous signs of an impending disaster that will engulf the entire town where Ricky lives, but it?s also full of high-strung dramatic scenes because of the conflict of Ricky with his son, Luis.
