Bagay sila

WE wrote earlier that Vina Morales is 33. "She?s only 31," her sister, Shaina Magdayao, corrects us. "It?s our eldest, Ate Sheila, who?s 33. After her is Ate Sheryl, 29, who?s getting married in the US in March to her fiance, Vincent Martinez. Twelve years ang tanda sa?kin ni Ate Sheryl. They?re all migrating there as our mom is a US citizen. I?ll also get my green card as I want to experience living there, kaya lang hindi ko maiwan ang career ko rito."

Shaina has been paired with Jolo Revilla in "Agimat" and "Seasons of Love" and with Alwyn Uytingco in "Bida si Mister," but it?s her team-up with Rayver Cruz in "Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin" and "Love Spell" that clicked. "Siya rin ang approved ng mommy ko as my ka-love team. Before kasi, she felt I was too young pa."

So what?s the real score between them? "We?re friends. Gusto ko siyang kapareha as he?s a six footer as I?m 5?6" at okay lang kahit mag-heels ako. He?s nice. He gave me roses on my birthday last November and a Samsonite shoulder bag last Christmas. He always buys me food sa taping namin ng ?Abt Ur Luv? and shooting ng ?Happy Hearts? sa Regal. But he?s not courting me naman formally. Gusto ko, magpapaalam muna sa mom ko na liligawan ako. Ayoko nung nagpaparamdam lang."

Vina slapped Borgy Manotoc for saying she slept with him. Is she capable of such a thing? "Magagawa ko rin ?yun kapag binastos ako. Hindi lang sampal. Mamamaril ako as I do target shooting now sa Crame using a .45 for competition."

In "Abt Ur Luv," shown Saturdays at 5 p.m., she plays Neri, apromdi girl whose seaman dad is missing at sea. She stays with her cousins in Manila and meets Rayver, who?s already going steady with Denise Laurel. "As of now, I avoid him in the show kasi I appear as contravida sa kanila ni Denise kaya galit sa?kin pati ibang characters doon."

Does she get along fine with the other girls there? "Noong una, ilag sila sa?kin dahil mas senior ako. So I reached out to them. Now, I?m close to the youngest girls, Empress Schuck, Lauren Young and Zia Marquez. Malalambing kasi sila."

Sharon Cuneta?s eldest daughter, KC Concepcion, is being linked to Director Lino Cayetano, the guy who started "Starstruck" on GMA-7 then moved to ABS-CBN to co-direct such kiddie soaps as "Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit" and "Calla Lily." There has been various sightings of them dating in Tagaytay, Market Market and Boracay during the Christmas holidays, but there?s no confirmation yet about the real score between them, even if the rumor is that KC is the reason why Lino broke up with girlfriend Bianca Gonzales. Sharon herself is silent about it. When asked about this, all she said was: "Dapat, kay Lino manggaling ang pag-amin at hindi sa amin dahil siya ang lalaki."

KC is graduating from her communications course at the American University in Paris next year. Lino will not be a bad match for her. He?s the son of the late senator Rene Cayetano and his mom is German-American, Sandra Schramm. He stands 6 feet tall, took up masscomm at UP and has a film degree from the New York University. "Bagay sila," some people say.

As for Ate Shawie, she?s now busy with her big concert at Cavite?s Island Cove resort this Saturday, January 20. It was meant to be staged there in November but Typhoon Milenyo came, so it was postponed. To those who live in Cavite, Laguna and surrounding areas, now is the time for you to see the megastar perform live and in person.

Working with Angel Locsin in "Asian Treasures" is a dream come true for Glaiza de Castro, who moved from ABS-CBN to GMA-7 late last year. "Even when I was just starting in showbiz, a lot of people were already telling me that we look alike and I consider it a big compliment na sabihing para kaming magkapatid," she says. "When I was told I?d be given the chance to work with her, siempre, tuwang-tuwa ako. To my surprise, she?s really very nice kahit big star na siya. Wala siyang ere sa set."

She?s also happy that "Asian Treasures" rated a very high 41.8% in its pilot telecast. "It?s nice to be a part of a hit show like this. Bale ito ang first big series ko on GMA-7 at puro malalaking artista agad ang kasama ko. Imagine, Robin Padilla, no less, plays my brother in the story."

Jean Garcia says "Atlantika" is her most challenging show so far. "Kasi I play the dual roles of Celebes and Celeste, twin sisters with the same face but one is good and the other, bad," she says. "Celebes sides with the good characters like Aquano (Dingdong Dantes) and Remedios (Cherry Pie Picache). Celeste is on the side of the villains, led by Barracud (Ariel Rivera). With Aquano, she gets to rescue the real king of Atlantika, si Haring Agat (Gardo Versoza), who Barracud tried to kill."

This week, Celeste learns that Agat has another child aside from Ruana (Katrina Halili). She reports this to Barracud and gets energy from the polaris to discover who the missing son of Agat is, but she fails to uncover the truth. Barracud slowly succeeds in making Atlantika arise to the surface of the sea, but Aquano and Agat arrive to stop him. They are confronted by the evil Black Amaya (Iza Calzado) who is ready to kill them.
