Big stars moving to GMA7?

BIG name Kapamilya stars are said to be moving to the Kapuso station, like Dolphy, Aga Muhlach and Maricel Soriano, who are currently not doing any shows with ABS-CBN. The only one who has a regular show is Sharon Cuneta. "You can't blame ABS if they now avoid giving show to the big stars," says a showbiz pundit. "Kasi ang mamahal ng bayad sa datihang stars, even to a relatively younger one like Claudine Barretto and you're not even sure if they'd really rate high. Why get them when, in the name of cost-cutting, you can get newcomers with much lesser talent fees?"

This is probably the reason why they're giving more breaks to new stars like Erich Gonzales and Ejay Falcon whose "Katorse" is doing well, and Maja Salvador and Coco Martin whose "Nagsimula sa Puso" also rates well. Even the hit Gerald Anderson-Kim Chiu love team recruited from PBB didn't cost them that much and yet their 'Tayong Dalawa' was a mammoth hit. We're sure even the likes of Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo aren't as expensive as the superstars of yore as they're homegrown ABS talents. What we're seeing here is the passing of an era when big stars of the 60s to the 90s are now relegated to playing supporting roles to the much younger stars of the new milennium.
