Bothered and bewildered

Sarah Geronimo admits she’s bothered that she is being pitted against Ai Ai de las Alas. This all started when SM Cinemas recently conferred the Pop Princess the title of Box-office Queen for A Very Special Love which made quite a killing at the tills last year. Ai Ai’s camp was not happy about it and questioned the decision saying that Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat shown last December actually raked in more money than A Very Special Love, making the top comedienne more deserving of the recognition.

“It really affected me because I’ve worked with her before and I respect her stature in the ‘biz. She’s THE Ai Ai de las Alas. For me, she’s the real Box-office Queen and she knows that. But I’m happy with the new title given to me. I’m grateful for it. It’s like ‘Wow!’ I’m tongue-tied. It’s an attestation that the public really loved my movie with John Lloyd [Cruz],” she reveals.

Now that their second team-up project You Changed My Life will hit the theaters tomorrow, many are asking if she feels the pressure, considering that she has just been proclaimed queen of the tills and that expectations are higher this time.

“Yes, in a way. I’m aware that all eyes will be set on us when the film opens. My only wish is that the movie will at least equal the success of our previous starrer if not surpass it. I pray that more people will get entertained by our cute and ‘kilig’ scenes in this sequel. I can say that both Lloydie and I doubled our efforts to make this movie appealing.”

According to reports, she and John Lloyd have several kissing scenes which will get their fans tickled pink.

“Well, yes, including his smack on my shoulders. Ha-ha-ha! But seriously, the viewers should just watch out for it. Let them be the judge.”

Interestingly, Rayver Cruz is also in the movie. The young actor is vocal about his admiration of Sarah, but he felt awkward with her on the set.

“Not true! In fact, I find him okay and nice. He’s very professional, always willing to learn and improve his skills. He’s serious with his craft,” says Sarah.

Great chemistry

It’s evident that John Lloyd Cruz has great screen chemistry with Sarah Geronimo. Many are curious if there’s a chance that their reel romance will turn into a reality in the long run.

“Honestly, I can’t say,” John Lloyd says. “We don’t know what the future has in store for us. But what’s certain is that Sarah is so easy to fall in love with. Any guy will surely fall for her charms!”

In fact, the actor says that he discovered a positive change in himself, thanks to Sarah.

“I noticed that I became more upbeat because of her. She has that effect on people. Her bubbly nature is infectious. With her around, every thing seems so light. There’s always a smile on your face.”

Heart backs out

It’s official that Heart Evangelista will not be part of GMA-7’s Muling Buksan Ang Puso. This could’ve been her first full-length screen role with Dennis Trillo. They did an episode for the Sunday show Dear Friend weeks ago and many have seen the potential in their team-up. According to the buzz, she and her camp declined the offer.

“I won’t deny that we did say ‘No’ to the project. It was actually Tita Anabelle Rama [her current business manager] who decided not to accept it. Honestly, we liked the idea that I’ll be paired with Dennis who is undoubtedly one of GMA-7’s prized talents. What she didn’t like is the idea that the program will be fielded in the afternoon slot.

“She still wants me to be in a primetime show after Luna Mystika.

“Also, the role I’m supposed to play is that of a young mother. It can’t be since my contracts as a product endorser prohibit that,” explains the pretty star.

Dennis expressed his disappointment over this development. It’s already public knowledge that he’s got a crush on her. According to the handsome actor, he is looking forward to working with her in a longer span of time to get to know her better.

“Actually, the thought of doing a show with Dennis also got me excited. When I worked with him in Dear Friend, he was so nice and professional. He also changes outfits fast so, no long waiting before a scene gets shot. I’m sure we’ll get along fine. If at this point in time, we don’t have the chance to work together, I’m certain it’ll happen sometime soon. We’re just under one stable anyway.”

Apart from Dennis, some quarters opine that she and Dingdong Dantes can also be a promising screen pair.

“I can’t comment on that as of now but yes, why not? It’s just that I might be the target of tirades of the fans of his love team with Marian [Rivera]. Personally, I don’t mind getting paired with various actors as long as the project is challenging. At the end of the day, it’s just a job, right?” the witty lass points out.
