Bro grants Santino’s request

ZAIJIAN Jaranilla, or Santino to his thousands – if not millions – of followers in the prime time series, "May Bukas Pa!" on ABS-CBN, has made "miracles" happen to a number of people. Through his intercession, yes, to "Bro" (the Lord Jesus Christ), wishes have come true.

Santino, bless him, has never made a personal request to Bro, although he knew deep in his heart that if he did, his request will be granted.

For sometime now, the Jaranillas have been renting a one-bedroom house in the Roxas District in Quezon City. "Sa room kasi natutulog ng Papa at dalawa kong kapatid na parehong lalaki rin. Ang lola ko sa sala nag-i-sleep.

"Minsan, naisip kong idasal kay Bro na tulungan Niya kaming magkaroon ng bahay," Santino related.

To Santino’s surprise, Bro immediately granted his request. He and his family now live in a two-bedroom house, complete with a toilet, a dining room and sala.

"Ang ganda," Santino said of the house.

Didn’t he request for a car from Bro?

"Naku, dyahi na ako kay Bro. At alam kong alam niyang pangarap ko ring magka-kotse kami.

"Pero, hihintayin ko na lang na kusa Niya akong bigyan," Santino added.

"May Bukas Pa" remains on top of the Philippine Primetime TV ratings, as reported by the Taylor Nelson Sofres Nationwide survey.

The powers that be behind the series attribute the success of the program to its powerhouse cast, consisting of, aside from Zaijian, Albert Martinez, Dina Bonnevie, Tonton Gutierrez, Maja Salvador, Rayver Cruz, Dominic Ochoa, Lito Pimentel, Desiree del Valle, Arlene Muhlach, Ogie Diaz, Jaime Fabregas, Ron Morales, David Chua, Victor Basa, Ruben Gonzaga, Badji Mortiz, Lara Quigaman and Liza Lorena.

A number of much-awarded actors have honored "May Bukas Pa" with their special appearance, such as Susan Roces, Lorna Tolentino, Claudine Barretto, Ai Ai de las Alas, Gabby Concepcion, Christopher de Leon, KC Concepcion, Toni Gonzaga, John Estrada, Anne Curtis, Cristine Reyes, Maricar Reyes, Gardo Verzosa, Johnny Delgado, Robert Arevalo, Dante Rivero, Boots Anson-Roa and Vhong Navarro.

Guess who the show’s producers have requested to guest in the show?

As their way of thanking their viewers who have avidly followed it since Day 1, they will be featuring Dolphy.

Comedian Vhong Navarro reportedly has a new girlfriend.

But our source failed to mention if the girl is from showbiz.

Vhong’s last squeeze, everyone will recall, was Desiree del Valle, who, in fairness, treated his two sons with two different women like they were her own.

In our last interview with Vhong, we asked him if he was finally marrying Desiree, since there was a report that his marriage to former wife, Bianca Lapuz, has been annulled. In answer, he merely gave us a pat on the shoulder and a smile.

Did that mean that Vhong was not yet ready for a second marriage and that Desiree may have been pressuring him to make their relationship legal?

Vhong is currently preparing for his new film assignment for Star Cinema.

Desiree effectively plays the mistress of Albert Martinez, who plays the mayor of a small town in "May Bukas Pa."

Former President Joseph Estrada had to excuse himself from the shooting of his comeback movie of sorts, Star Cinema’s "Ang Tanging Pamilya." He, with his wife, former Senator Loi Estrada, and son, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, will attend the former President Cory Aquino’s funeral.

"Ang Tanging Pamilya," directed by Wenn Deramas, pairs the ex-president with Ai Ai de las Alas. It has an October playdate.

President Erap visited former President Cory at the Makati Medical Center when she was confined there due to cancer of the colon.

He had, likewise, offered healing masses for her, with him and Senator Loi always in attendance. He was also at the wake of President Cory at the De la Salle University Gym.

President Cory, in one of her public speeches, last year, apologized to President Erap for joining the EDSA 2 which, according to President Erap, "robbed" him of the presidency.
