Children of 'gay' actors react

Author: Bong De Leon
Column: Check It Out

BOTH Michael V and Ogie Alcasid are used to doing gay and even female roles. What do their children say about it?

"Wala, natutuwa sila," volunteers Ogie. "In fact, my daughters even suggest what to wear. "

Michael V's children are so used to it they know it's their dad's work. Maybe, some of their non-friends tease them, but so far, they haven't heard of anything negative about it, especially now that their Angelina and Yaya characters (and their "Loser!" line) from Bubble Gang are so popular. Not only that they're soon making a movie, they have a new show on GMA7, Hole in the Wall which is starting tonight, 6-6:30.

So, who are the real losers?

ARIEL A TRUE PADRE DE FAMILIA

ARIEL Rivera plays the lead role in "Padre de Pamilya," an indie film that got the endorsement of the influential Catholic church leaders, headed by no less than Bishop Socrates B. Villegas chairman of the CBCP Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education. The role befits Ariel as he is truly a picture of a padre de familia during the premiere night of the movie at SM Megamall Cinema 9. With him were his wife Gelli de Belen and his two kids who gamely posed for cameras. So, as a doting father, how does he show his love for his kids? Ariel says rearing their kids is a teamwork between him and Gelli. "Last Holy Week, we stayed in our rest house in Tagaytay," he shares. "We simply enjoy eating, laughing and being together. "

After this movie, Ariel intends to promote his new album which already spawned a hit. "Padre de Pamilya" will also be a hit. After all, aside from Ariel, it has competent stars like Jaclyn Jose and Tessie Tomas. The movie is about a good father (Ariel) whose only wish is for his children to grow up as good Christians. Unfortunately, his salary as business permit section head in the municipal hall is not enough to make both ends meet and the temptation to become corrupt is always present.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

KUDOS to singer Arnee Hidalgo who graduated cum laude at the Southville International School in Parañaque City from her BA studies last March 24. She proved that it should not be a problem for anyone to combine showbiz career and schooling as long as you have the determination and goal to get a college degree.

Aside from her career, Arnee already has two children and a husband to attend to. She is also busy with the family business which manufactures and sells washing detergents, soaps, and more.
