| | Dianne Medina takes on a sexier image for 'Banana Split' Author: Manila P. Santos A former cast member of the now defunct shows Wazzup Wazzup and Let's Go!, 22-year-old Dianne Medina is taking on her most liberated role yet as one of the hilarious gals of the all-female gag show Banana Split. " Sobrang happy ako ngayon. It's my first time to do a sexy comedy show and masaya. Seven girls kami dun and sobrang bait sila Angel (Angelica Panganiban), Roxanne (Guinoo), Cristine (Reyes), Valerie (Concepcion), RR (Enriquez), Princess (Ryan)... Nag-grow talaga yung camaraderie namin kasi parang kaming lahat magkakasundo. Nag-jive kagad lahat on- and off-cam," she says. Dianne says that she connects with the other Banana Split girls on different levels. " Kay Angel, magkasundo kami sa kalokohan dahil lagi akong natatawa sa kanya. Si Cristine din mabait sobra. 'Pag tungkol sa love life, si Roxanne at Princess nakakausap ko. Si Roxanne kasi, nung Lets Go! days pa lang, nag-guest na siya sa amin, nag-uusap na kami tungkol sa love life nung hindi pa kami ni Rodjun (Cruz). Pero humble silang lahat. Si Valerie nakaka-kuwentuhan ko rin," she adds. Coming from a very conservative background, Dianne admits she still had some adjusting to do when they started taping the show. "My school MiriamCollege is a catholic institution so I consider myself very conservative din. Nanibago ako siyempre at first. This project has me actually going out of my comfort zone. Kasi I don't do sexy talaga," she explains. But with father and son directing tandem of Edgar and Frasco Mortiz at the helm, Dianne feels more at ease doing the sexy gags. " Sabi naman sa akin ni Direk Frasco na hindi niya ako pababayaan. Hindi naman siya super sexy talaga, yung sexiness at naughtiness nasa script mismo, I don't have to show flesh or katawan," she shares. The Communication Arts graduate also shares her plans for further studies. "I'm thinking of taking a masters degree in film or theater at UP siguro. Something related with media also because we all know that this career is not really stable 'di ba? Kapag may projects lang may work so I want to save and have extra income. Right now I'm planning to study again para may fallback ako," she admits. The pretty mestiza also hopes to go into radio production someday. " Sana makahanap ako ng sideline, gusto ko talaga mag-radio. Nagtanong nga ako sa 101.9 kung may libre bang position. And of course gusto ko mag-host pa kasi doon ako nagstart talaga sa Wazzup, Wazzup," Dianne says. The comedienne admits that she keeps fit by following a strict diet. "I don't eat any carbs, so no rice after six pm. But I still get to eat everything even chocolates. Kailangan ko rin gawin yun talaga para sa Banana Split," she shares. Her days off are spent at the mall and the spa with her best friend Alex Gonzaga and her boyfriend of more than a year, Rodjun Cruz. "He's very sweet and mabait. Actually, I love everything about him. Siguro we're still going strong now kasi it's more of we really try to be understanding and accepting of each other, even if it means loving our negative side. Siguro it's more of meeting halfway," she explains. But having a boyfriend doesn't keep Dianne from having one small crush on a big celebrity. "Crush ko si John Lloyd (Cruz) kasi sobrang galing niya umarte. Sobrag naguwa-guwapuhan ako sa kanya. Tapos when I met him, super nice and magaling. Professional siya talaga," she gushes. As Banana Split finishes its first month on TV, Dianne gives a message to the growing fans of the show. " Naku maraming marami pang mga kaseksihan. Mga katatawanan, lalo na abangan ninyo ang mga funny banana moments and of course hindi lang kaseksihan yung ipapakita namin.
