Column: Entertainment MANILA - Diether Ocampo is suffering from a heart condition called arrhythmia and this might be the reason why the actor had a seizure while rehearing for a Star Magic concert in the United States over the weekend.
One of Ocampo's closest friends in show business, actress Claudine Barretto, has made this disclosure to "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon."
"Yong heart niya lumalaki. 'Yong muscle yata tumatama sa artery parang ganoon plus mayroon siyang arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythms). So iyon ang naging problema talaga. That what caused iyong pag-collapse niya," Barretto said.
Barretto, however, assured that the actor is now in stable condition.
Reports said the "Only You" star has already been discharged from a hospital and transferred to Los Angeles, California where he is recuperating.
Barretto said Ocampo even wanted to perform in the second stop of "Star Magic: The World Concert Tour" in San Francisco but his doctor and Star Magic executive Johnny Manahan had advised him against it.
"Thank you for all your prayers. Diet (Ocampo) is okay, stable na. Nakakapagsalita na po siya," Barretto said.
